Three Years of the Taft Independent
July 3, 2009
Three years ago this week, the Taft Independent began weekly publication of our locally owned newspaper, and life on the Westside has not been the same since.
We are proud to be able to provide our readers with a second source of local news and information, as well as present news, features, editorials, community voices and our other popular articles in our unique tabloid format.
Not many small communities have two newspapers, let alone one. Having two media give readers more choices and more local information.
Today, our unique website offers two formats for reading and viewing the paper. You can view the Independent in the traditional website format, or you can read the Independent exactly as you see it in print (www.taftindependent.com). Take a look and see for yourself. We also offer videos of local businesses and news, when we can film it, so you can see what is happening in Taft.
We average over 3,000 visits to our website per week. That is on top of the 3,500 issues we print each week and distributed to over 150 locations - Free.
During the past three years, we have worked to promote the Westside and our local business and present features about life in Taft that reflects our quality of life and the benefits of living in small town America.
We look forward to many more years of serving you and the Westside. Please, if you ever want to publish a letter, a photo or just talk with the publisher Michael Long, please call 765-6550. Thank you for your readership and advertising!
